You are playing a role in the developing faith of children. Therefore, you have the
opportunity to model what it looks like to love God and follow Jesus!
***Expectations for serving in GENESIS Kids
Small Group Leader (ages 15 and up)***
Commit to the LORD
- Have a committed and growing relationship with Jesus, demonstrated through your Christ-like character, by attending church on Sundays (“sit one, serve one”) and participating in our discipleship rhythms, such as GROUPS, STUDIES, JOURNEY, as your schedule allows. ****
Commit to the TEAM
- Respond to Schedule requests
- BE PREPARED: read emails, know the lesson, understand what you will be responsible for
- Be on time, huddles begin 30 minutes before the service, and include important information for the morning, we begin and end on time and expect all team members to be there
- Wear your GK lanyard and t-shirt
- Dress appropriately, you will be playing with children, sitting on the floor, dancing etc. Be mindful of baggy pants/shirts that may be revealing. Shoes are better than flip-flops.
- Follow the expectations for your role and respect those leading you (lead teacher, Core Team members, GK Coordinator and GK Director)
Small Group Leader Role
- Build relationships with kids
- Be friendly, kind and welcoming
- Play with kids at the beginning of group, get to know them and the things they like
- Ask questions to learn more about them
- Be on the lookout for kids who might be having a hard time and try to help them build relationships
- Follow, support and assist the teacher as needed
- Join in the fun, as you do, so will the kids! Sing, dance, listen to the story and teacher
- Allow kids to answer questions and participate in the activities. Remember that you are there as a guide, you want to be an example of how to participate BUT they are the ones answering the questions and doing the activities
- Be helpful during check out by engaging them as they wait for their turn to be dismissed. Your lead teacher will be busy, so your help keeping the kids engaged while they wait is essential.
- Help set the expectations of respecting the people, the property and God at GK. When behavior needs redirecting, remind the children of our 3 rules of respect. There is no running at GK (unless involved with a game)
- Stay until all kids are dismissed, take a moment to review the morning with your team and pray for the message, that God’s love would grow deeper in each child
- Lead the small group activities as outlined in the lesson sent to you on Tuesday
- Use Whatsapp communication with your team or respond to questions or concerns, for your group.
