Galaxy KidsCON Crew Leader Training

Thank you for joining us on this Mission of God’s LOVE! The following guidelines will help you to serve with excellence as we welcome kids to GENESIS.

Serving on the KidsCON Team is a privilege, and we are entrusting you to be responsible for leading kids through our program.

Thank you for sharing God’s love with each child by getting to know them, learning & using their name and being their friend!

• Your attendance at all KidsCON meetings is mandatory. There are 2 trainings to choose from Wednesday July 22 at 6:30 and Sunday July 26 at 12 noon. We will meet in the Sanctuary for those meetings. You ONLY NEED TO ATTEND ONE of these meetings.
• There is also a mandatory meeting on Wednesday, July 29 at 6:30 for the entire KidsCON team, in the Sanctuary. You need to attend this meeting too.
• Arrival at KidsCON on Friday is between 4:45 and 5pm. We will have pizza for you! Our Crew Leader meeting will happen promptly at 5:15. You must check in with Leo so that we know you are here and that every Crew is covered.
• Arrival on Saturday is between 7:45 and 8am. We will have donuts for you! Our Crew Leader Meeting will happen promptly at 8:15am. Again, please check in with Leo so that we know you are on site and that each crew is covered.
• If you are running late, please text Leo to let him know.
• Please choose clothing that is appropriate. Wear your KidsCON t-shirt. Do not wear shorts that are too short. Do not wear hats/or anything with inappropriate words/logos. You are setting an example for all the children at KidsCON. We will ask you to change if your clothing is not appropriate.
• You are setting an example as you lead with kids! Lead with your heart and head and as Christ would lead. Think about your language, topics of conversation, and your interactions with others. As you do, so will the kids.
• Sing, participate, and have fun! If you aren’t having fun, the kids will follow your vibe!
• There will be a brief meeting AFTER KidsCON on Friday night. Please plan on staying for about 15 minutes after all kids are dismissed. On Saturday, we will wrap up at 3 and then we will need to clean up! Please plan on staying for that and for a celebration with dinner! Plan to have your parents pick you up between 4:30 and 5pm.
• Phones are NOT ALLOWED. Please keep your phone in your pocket or Crew Bag. We will ask to hold your phone for you if we see you using it when campers are present.
• Do not walk away from your Crew at any point when kids are with you. Always let your other Crew Leader know you need to step away, and make sure he or she knows when you will be back (for example, if you need the bathroom, make sure your co-crew leader knows that you need to step out for a moment).
• No one should use the elevator at KidsCON unless they are an adult or are serving with a child with a disability. Please do not take kids on the elevator.

Your Role at GALAXY KidsCON

• You will be leading kids from station to station and sitting with your Crew during large group sessions. You will be on a team of 2-3 leaders per crew.
• You are responsible for keeping your crew of kids together, carrying around the crew bag, checking kids in and checking kids out and assisting kids while at stations.
